The Brazilian has been in superb form since joining the French giants in a world record €222 million (R3.3 billion) deal, scoring 24 goals and assisting another 16 strikes in just 23 appearances.
However, Neymar has reportedly become unsettled at the club after being jeered at by PSG fans for denying Edinson Cavani the opportunity to take a penalty that could have seen the Uruguayan break the club's all-time goals record.
Los Blancos are believed to be lurking in the background, with club president Florentino Perez understood to be keen on luring the former FC Barcelona star to the Santiago Bernabeu.
A new report by L'Equipe suggests that the 25-year-old would even be prepared to take a pay cut from his current €36 million (R533 million) annual income in return for a massive signing-on fee to join Real.
At present, Neymar earns about €15 million (R222 million) more than Real's top earner Cristiano Ronaldo, who is eager to sign a new bumper contract with Los Blancos.
"Operation Neymar" will not be easy, though, as PSG do not seem prepared to let their world record signing leave so quickly, and Perez knows it will take more than €250 million (R3.7 billion) to prise him away from France.
Ronaldo could even be used as makeweight, with PSG reportedly keen on taking the Portuguese to the Parc des Princes.
