FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is reportedly having his financials looked into once again as it is believed he is using an offshore company to hide assets from the authorities.
According to La Sexta and El Confidencial, Messi is using a corporation in Panama to bank money from image rights deals without the Spanish tax authorities' knowledge.
It is believed the Argentine created the company, called Mega Star Enterprises, with his father just a day after Spanish authorities claimed he had evaded €4.1 million (R68 million) in taxes.
While there is no law in setting up offshore companies, the lack of transparency is cause for concern.
Messi is not the only big name involved in the tax haven scandal currently being uncovered by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.
Others in the football world who have been implicated include former UEFA president Michel Platini and ex-Real Madrid star Ivan Zamorano.
