Official: Fenerbahce Unveil Mesut Ozil, Salary Revealed

Turkish giants Fenerbahce have officially unveiled Mesut Ozil following his departure from Arsenal, and his new salary has reportedly been revealed too.

The 32-year-old left the Gunners after not being registered for the club's Premier League and UEFA Europa League squads in the first half of the campaign.

Ozil's transfer to Fenerbahce was confirmed on Sunday, while, on Monday, the Turkish side published some interesting details regarding his contract.

According to the documents, Fenerbahce did not have to pay any fee to the London club for the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner, whose contract with Arsenal was set to expire at the end of this season.

The attacking midfielder will earn €3 million (R55 million) a year in Turkey, but only from the 2021/22 campaign onwards.

Ozil, though, did receive a €550 000 (R10.1 million) signing bonus, while reports suggest that he will be awarded another €500 000 (R9.2 million) bonus if he helps Fenerbahce win the 2020/21 Super Lig title, while qualification for next season's edition of the UEFA Champions League would see him pocket a further €250 000 (R4.6 million).

He was unveiled on Wednesday afternoon, saying it was a dream come true to join the Turkish giants.

"Like our president said, it was a dream for Fenerbahce, it was a dream for me," Ozil said at his unveiling.

"Hopefully I can contribute to the team on the field with my talent and hopefully we will have a successful season.

"I have been a Fenerbahce fan all my life and that's why I'm happy to be here, and I would like to thank everyone."
