Doc Khumalo Has Shown His Support To Bafana Bafana And Stuart Baxter

Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach, Doctor Khumalo has thrown his support behind Stuart Baxter and Bafana Bafana.

The South African national team are off to Egypt this year, campaigning in the prestigious Africa Cup Of Nations competition, having since been drawn in Group D, alongside Morocco, Namibia and Ivory Coast.

Speaking prior to the draw, Khumalo revealed that Head Coach Baxter got it right in the country's last AFCON qualifying encounter, adding that all Bafana needs right now is support from everyone in the country.

"I think in this regard, the game is the teacher - if we are going to judge Bafana Bafana based on their last game because you are as good as your last game," Khumalo told Soccer Laduma.

"I have worked with Stuart for three years. Fortunately, when I did my coaching badges in London, he was one of the instructors so I know very well what kind of an individual I am talking about.

"But, he got it right against Libya, his game plan was spot on. I strongly believe that the system is the one that doesn't make the players, the players make the system and playing against Libya in that hostile crowd, I thought they did very well and going forward, we could be better than what we saw against Libya.

"Yes of course he was under pressure, not only him but the entire team, they were under pressure because it was a do or die situation and if you were to ask me, it is not an easy environment for one to go and take a field, feeling that if we don't make it we are not going through.

"But the boys were humble and dedicated and they won it. For us to compete in the finals in Egypt, I don't think we should chop and change but get players that will represent us accordingly. The most important thing is for South Africa to open up and give support to the players because they are representing the entire country we can't turn our backs on them," he added.
