Gift Motupa's potential move from Bidvest Wits to reigning Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns is far from dead in the water!
The Siya crew has today established that the deal between the two clubs, which was initially thought to have failed to materialise as Wits were still keen on holding on to the player could be pushed to the final day of the transfer window.
Transfer deadline is this Friday – and insiders have indicated that the door is not completely closed for Motupa to make the switch to Chloorkop.
What's clear, however, is that Sundowns would have to make a sizeable offer, one which the Clever Boys feel would be too good to reject, especially for a player that has not been a regular starter despite being their leading goal scorer.
The forward picked up the Player of the Month accolade for December last week and was asked about the potential move to Sundowns, and he admitted to being interested.
"They haven't approached me, but what I know is that they approached my team, though I don't know what happened from there. I am contracted to Wits. I am happy where I am, but if my team agrees I would go," Motupa told the media in part.
It's emerged this week that the striker 25-year-old may very well get his wish, but the deal hinges on all parties being completely satisfied with the terms.
Motupa has scored 11 goals in 21 matches for Wits so far this season and most of his appearances have come from the bench.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has not hidden his desire to sign a striker before the transfer window closes on Friday having missed out on Knowledge Musona, who opted to remain in Europe on loan at KAS Eupen from Anderlecht.
