South African football supporters are passionate about their game and it has been proven over the years that they're not just about winning, they demand to win in style.
If there is one football team in the world that resonates with South Africans, it has to be the Spanish treble champions, Barcelona. The flair, skill, pace and goal-scoring form by the Spanish giants are all similar to how football was played in our country.
Before the influx of a number of foreign coaches who changed the way our players play the game, football was simple and individual brilliance was the order of the day. There were few foreign coaches who embraced the talent and skill of local players and only enhanced their game by improving their tactical and technical awareness. Unfortunately, we have had far more 'negative' coaches than those who looked to improve rather than to change our style.
Of our local teams, who do you think is the closest to Barcelona in terms of style of play? Who do you enjoy watching the most?
