Let's take a closer look at what they had to say...

Comments

Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune has stated that the club is in the DStv Premiership to fight for the title and to win it, despite their poor start to the season.

Khune spoke to the media during the Soweto Derby Press Conference, maintaining a positive attitude that his team can will all of their  remaining league games, starting with the big clash against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Khune referenced a season where they won 20 matches in a row, saying that it's possible for this current Chiefs team to go on a similar run.

The veteran keeper could be playing in his 28th Soweto Derby this weekend and reiterated that it's more than just bragging rights on the line.

Here's how the readers reacted to the "Khune: How Chiefs Can Still Win The PSL Title" story:

"I had some respect left for Itu but this... yeeer. How did he figure this one out? The team that won 20 games in a row did not start the way this one started and certainly did not play like this one, never had passive players like the current crop. I am lost for words," says sakhilem9.

"This is so funny. But let's just agree that they will win the league," jokes fando0002.

"Khune is really dreaming and trying by all means to market himself to save his job. His time is over and must just give others a chance.

"Cavin must no longer field Khune as each time he plays, Chiefs does not get good results. It was just luck that saw Chiefs win against Spurs.

"Petersen is far and away better that Khune now, therefore Cavin must start with him," says dhlaminisiphiwe411.

"Wake up Bra Itu. You're dreaming," says King Nesh.

"The only mistake Stuart Baxter committed was to exclude Chiefs players when he made that important statement," says Shikabala.

"Commenting and taking medication when you're hungry is not good, next time this should be confirmed 'Did you eat?' before people are asked questions. I don't think Khune still remembers what he said," says Manephilly.

"When you have an expired Captain in the team, they will just talk because they have been given a mic. If Johnson wants to change things, take away the arm band from Khune and Dolly. He must find his own Captain," says zambroty.

"Khune really believed Baxter when he said their fans are dumb, so he thinks they will believe him," says Dominate-downs.

"I like the medication you taking please share. Chiefs winning the league? You need consistence to win the league, not to rely on other teams," says Fela.

"An experienced player like Khune should be talking about taking things one game at-a-time. Winning the league currently looks like a distant possibility, but this is football. I honestly don't see Downs dropping many points," says Downs rule.

It's been a decade since the Soweto Derby was played as a top table clash, which suggests that the spectacle has lost some of its spark.

Thapelo Xoki shared his thoughts on why it remains one of the biggest games in Africa, saying that the match has never lost its significance, particularly to the fans.

Xoki admits that sometimes both teams are not in good moments, but is adamant in his stance that it's still a big game, regardless of what anyone says.

Here's how the readers reacted to the "Has The Soweto Derby Lost Its Spark?" story:

"This is the biggest game in Southern Africa. Everyone will be watching this game, I hope that answers your question. Khosi for life," says T.sibiya.

"You can try and redefine it all you want, whichever way you want, it remains a THE derby and you will still watch it. 80 000 sold tickets, keep that in mind when you type your comments," says Fela.

"The Drawby," quips Planga7.

"I think this guy he can't differentiate big and best. To be the best, you must first be good, better and then best. These teams are neither good nor better and effectively, they can't be the best," says Downs rule.

"Uyaxoka uXoki, let's forgive him. He grew up believing that Pirates and Chiefs are the best teams. I wonder if he believes that KC and Pirates are the best in Africa. How does he rate Simba, Petro and Jwaneng," says Skyvodka.

"The Soweto Derby will remain the Soweto Derby. It does not matter if the spark is gone or not. It's the Pride of South African football.

"The current players might not consider it as thee game as compared to 20 years ago when most football players were dreaming of playing for either teams. A lot has changed and an open minded football fan will agree when I say, the Pirates/Chiefs vs Sundowns games are more entertaining than the Soweto Derby.
