Bafana Bafana midfielder Thulani Serero has stood by his choice to snub the team, if reports are anything to go by.
Serero has spoken for the first time since his bust-up with SAFA, and was quoted as saying that his sofa in the Netherlands is more comfortable than the national team's bench.
"I understand what was at stake and that the games were important, but if I wasn't going to play‚ I did not want to fly to South Africa for nothing."
The supporters are divided on the matter... here's what some posted:
"Serero is right, Baxter is failing us .Why did he bench Jali? We have quality players, we just need better management from people who know football." – Ntuthuko5110
"You did us a favour. I hope your sofa will be more comfortable than ever in the next three years. Honestly, we didn't feel your absence." – Xolisa{Khosificated)
"He is so disrespectful to the nation and other players, this guy was called when he was not even registered for Ajax, warming the stands, but given a first preference in the starting line-up, how does he think other players felt? I don't think this country needs players with his attitude, as much as we admire his talent, but he can go!" – Soldier4Khosi
"Vele, this Serero thinks he's special. Gordon wanted to play him but he refused to play, now he want the assurance to play and the so-called football supporters are with him. Football South Africa for you. He wants to do whatever he likes... He must go to hell where he belongs. He did nothing even when he was playing." – Masters009
"Sofa is better than bench, he is right." – radzuma
"Way to go, lad. I, too, would rather watch The Lion Guard on Disney Jr than to watch the heartbreaking Bafana Bafana." – Mkhwengxeli
Do you think Serero was right to demand to play?
