Supporters Club is back with Joel "Fire" Masilela's answers to the questions you asked him, including one about the famous disallowed goal he scored against Kaizer Chiefs in the Rothmans Cup final, and the former Mamelodi Sundowns winger left no stone unturned!
Legend, when we signed Thapelo Morena from Celtic, I said here's the player to emulate Fire Masilela, but our coach plays him at wing back. In all fairness he is doing well, but don't you think that maybe he is a bit restricted because his strength is running at players? – McCoora
Joel Masilela: I know Morena from his days at Celtic. Coach Pitso (Mosimane) wants versatile players and Morena fits in well. Remember, Sundowns tried a lot of overseas coaches and they didn't deliver, while Coach Pitso has achieved a lot. Now coming to Morena, he can take players on and he can defend well as well. That boy is the total footballer, and, yes, he does play the way I used to play.
Legend, what's your take on your disallowed goal against Chiefs in that Rothmans Cup final? – Bloody Cowditor why ban Model C?
JM: I think people are still talking about it. It was bad for Sundowns and it was bad for me as well. At the end of the day it happened, it was a clear goal, a beautiful team goal. But that's football for you sometimes. Some benefit from poor decisions but not both teams on the day will benefit. It was really painful on the day and, to be honest, I don't blame the referee for it, I blame his assistant because he is the one who made the call.
King, are you involved in football development? If not, why not? You were one of the best in your playing days. – Mlu Downs
JM: Yes, I am involved in football development. I am coaching our (Sundowns) U15 together with Teenage Dladla. Thank you for the compliments. During my playing days, I used to have one thing in mind and that was winning the game.
What do you make of Fire's sentiments?
