Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker was full of praise for the players executed their plan in the win over Mamelodi Sundowns.
Fawaaz Basadien netted a penalty in the second half to secure a first-leg 1-0 win over the Brazilians on Wednesday night.
Barker was delighted with every player but did warn his side about remaining grounded ahead of Sunday's second leg.

"Very proud of the players this evening, special performances all-round, obviously Sage Stephens with some really great saves in the second half," Barker said on SuperSport.
"But I thought we had a really good structure, really good discipline, tactically aware. We knew what we wanted to do and went on to execute. Credit must go to the players for having that discipline to execute what we asked them to do.
"We did deny them in their build-up, they work as fluent as they can be, so that was part of the success. But we're mindful it's only halftime. You can see they are a really quality team, came at us at the end.
"We had to dig deep to come away with a clean-sheet. But we can now go to Durban with a lead and with confidence that what we tried to do we executed."
The second leg will take place on Sunday afternoon at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
