Downs Target Eyes Liverpool Move

He is currently being pursued by Mamelodi Sundowns, but Stellenbosch star Jayden Adams has his eyes firmly fixed on Europe.

As reported by the Siya crew, the Bafana Bafana midfielder is currently the subject of interest from the Brazilians, who have been tracking the 23-year-old for the last year or so.

The reigning DStv Premiership champions made contact for Adams in January, but the Cape Winelands outfit made clear their intentions to hold onto their prized possession.

Despite growing interest in his services locally, the Idas Valley native has his eyes cast on a move to Europe where he would love to turn out for his beloved Liverpool.

"When it's a big game for me, I just tell myself, you just go out there and do your best, do everything you can and that the game will take it from. Before I go out to warm-up, I pray, I video call my girl to see my daughter first and my parents," he told management company Forwardzone Group who look after his interests on and off the field.

"I think that's a difficult talent for me as a young player, being away from my family a lot, especially my daughter, but you know that's football. I want to be at the highest level, so you need to do these things. But I think the video call in the message is very important, plays a big role in my life.

"My goal is to play in Europe. I would like to play for Liverpool. That's my team. So that's my big-time goal," he said boldly.

His sentiments were echoed by his agent Ashley Kotzin, who foresees a career for the utility player in Europe.

"I remember Jayden when he was 11-12 years old. He was still playing at Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) at the time, and he was an incredibly talented kid, he was very small, very quiet and very silent off field. But when he got on the pitch, he had a very particular kind of mentality and personality that I really liked.

"I think he is a player that could go on to greatness. I think Jayden has a really strong mentality to want to win. He has a really great opportunity always to drive the team forward.

"He's got a technical ability where he can do things other players can't and I think Jayden possesses the kind of talent that's certainly good enough for the European stages," he said.
