Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to bounce back from their MTN8 exit when they travel to Maritzburg United in the DStv Premiership on Tuesday evening.

DStv Premiership

Teams: Maritzburg United v Mamelodi Sundowns

Date: 25 October 2022

Venue: Harry Gwala Stadium

Sundowns were eliminated from the MTN8 in the semi-finals after a 3-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the second leg on Saturday afternoon.

Following the heavy defeat to Pirates, the Brazilians announced that they have restructured their technical team, with Rulani Mokwena taking over the reigns as a sole head coach.

The Tshwane giants, however, have been doing well in the league after winning a fourth consecutive game after edging Marumo Gallants 1-0 a week ago.

Sundowns lead the table by a superior goal difference over second-placed Richards Bay and will be looking to pull three points clear with a win this evening, althoug they will be without Aubrey Modiba who was sent off against Pirates.

Maritzburg, meanwhile, stretched their winless run to four matches after a 1-1 draw with ten-man AmaZulu a week ago.

The Team of Choice find themselves in 13th position on the table with 11 points, just one point above the relegation zone.

Maritzburg beat Sundowns 2-1 in the reverse fixture last season for the first time since 2012 after Masandawana had won the first round clash 1-0 at home.

NOTE: The start of the match has been delayed due to the weather, the match will start at 20h25.
