Sundowns closed off their year in style after a morale-boosting 2-0 win over rivals Orlando Pirates last Friday.
The Brazilians maintained their five-point lead at the top of the standings and stretched their winning run in the league to seven matches.
New Swallows head coach Ernst Middendorp, meanwhile, had a losing start in charge after a narrow 1-0 loss to Richards Bay on New Year's Eve.
The Birds, with only one win from their last eight matches, slipped down to 14th on the table, just one point above the relegation zone.
Sundowns completed a league double over Swallows last season, which includes a 3-0 win at tonight's venue.
