Nevertheless, Sundowns will become the first team in the Premier Soccer League era to go an entire season without suffering a defeat if they overcome City this afternoon.
City, meanwhile, already confirmed their place in the top eight next season with a 3-1 victory over Richards Bay last weekend.
It was the Citizens' second league win of the year but the highest they could climb is fifth if they win and other results go their way.
The last two matches between the two sides have ended in goalless draws, while City's last league win in the capital came in 2017 thanks to Nana Akosah-Bempah's strike.
