Orlando Pirates will be looking to close the gap behind Betway Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns when they visit Magesi on Sunday afternoon.

Teams: Magesi FC v Orlando Pirates

Date: 29 December 2024

Venue: Old Peter Mokaba Stadium

Time: 15h30

Pirates got back to winning ways in the league in a rampant mood after wallopping Marumo Gallants 8-1 on Christmas Eve, with Tshegofatso Mabasa scoring a hat-trick, Thalenthe Mbatha netting a brace, with added goals by Deano Van Rooyen, Boitumelo Radiopane and an own goal by Kenneth Nthatheni.

The Buccaneers, however, are six points behind log-leaders Sundowns, in second spot on the table, with two games in hand.

The Soweto giants will be without Mabasa due to suspension after he picked up his fourth yellow card against Gallants.

Magesi, meanwhile, are on a three-match losing streak after a narrow 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United two weeks ago.

Dikwena parted ways with former head coach Clinton Larsen, who tendered his resignation after a 3-0 defeat to All Stars XI in the Black Label Cup and Papi Zothwane has been announced by the club as interim head coach.

The Limpopo side have dropped down to the bottom of the table with six points from nine matches.
