A place in the Africa Cup of Nations final will be up for grabs when Bafana Bafana take on Nigeria in the semi-finals this evening.

2023 Africa Cup of Nations

Teams: Nigeria v South Africa

Date: 07 February 2024

Venue: Stade de Bouake

Time: 19h00

Bafana reached their first semi-final since 2000 after a penalty-shoot win over Cape Verde in the quarter-finals, thanks to goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, who saved four penalties, after a goalless draw in extra-time.

Hugo Broos' charges will be looking to go a step further and reach the final for the first time since 1998, after they were dethroned as champions by Egypt.

South Africa will be without Thapelo Maseko, who has been ruled out of the tournament with a muscle injury picked up in the win over the Blue Sharks.

On the other hand, Nigeria reached the semi-finals after edging Angola 1-0 in the quarter-finals and were last at this stage in 2019 at the expense of South Africa.

The Super Eagles last reached the final in 2013 after they were crowned champions for the third time on South African soil, at FNB Stadium.

Bafana are yet to beat Nigeria in the AFCON tournament.

Here's how they line up:

Nigeria: Nwabali, Ekong, Ajayi, Bassey, Osayi-Samuel, Onyeka, Iwobi, Ola Aina, Lookman, Osimhen, Simon.

South Africa: Williams, Mudau, Kekana, Xulu, Mvala, Modiba, Sithole, Mokoena, Tau, Zwane, Makgopa.

Subs: Mothwa, Goss, Mobbie, Mashego, Appollis, Adams, Monare, Lepasa, Sibisi, Mayambela, Morena
