The ABSA Premiership title race heats up after every encounter. On Thursday, May 4, Bidvest Wits take on Orlando Pirates where both teams are seeking much-needed points. The Clever Boys are looking to have some breathing space at the top of the log standings, while the Buccaneers are fighting to secure a spot in the top eight.

Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping that Orlando Pirates do them a favour by beating Wits. As they take on Platinum Stars, Sundowns go into the match on a good run of form, while on the other hand, Dikwena have not seen positive results recently.

On Friday, May 5, Cape Town City battle out against Free State Stars. Eric Tinkler's charges will be hoping to stay close to Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns, who are positioned first and second, respectively.

Wits v Orlando Pirates (Absa Premiership)

League rankings: Wits 1st Pirates 8th

Useful facts: Wits come into this encounter without any losses in their last six, while Pirates have lost just once in their last seven and will be hoping to maintain their position in the top eight. However, with a 33 percent win ratio against the Students in the last 21 encounters, Pirates would probably be happy with a draw away from home.

Mamelodi Sundowns v Platinum Stars (Absa Premiership)

League rankings: Sundowns 2nd Platinum Stars 11th

Useful facts: The reigning champions have a surprisingly poor record against Dikwena, with nine losses from their last 25 league encounters. However, Pitso Mosimane's men have finally hit their stride, with five wins from their last six, which has helped them be just one point off the top of the table.

Cape Town City v Free State Stars (Absa Premiership)

League rankings: City 3rd Stars 14th

Useful facts: Eric Tinkler will be hoping to make up ground on Bidvest Wits and having won five of their last eight, you wouldn't bet against them. However, their record against Ea Lla Koto is not great, with just four league wins from their last 11 encounters.
