The Five Best Apps To Play With Non-Gaming Friends In Lockdown

The Five Best Apps To Play With Non-Gaming Friends In Lockdown

Since we have now passed over 50 days of lockdown, we're sure that you have reached a new unprecedented level of boredom – especially with no sport to watch. So, we decided to trawl the internet for a slightly different list. A list of the best game apps to play with friends. We've tried to keep this list as basic as possible so even your non-gaming friends will be able to keep up.

Mario Kart Tour

Finally, you can enjoy all the thrills and excitement of Mario Kart but on your mobile device. The game is available on iOS and Android and lets you play either solo against computer-controlled opponents or with some friends online. It's 100% free (which is always a big plus in our eyes). The one irritating part is you have to play a few games before the option to adds friends is unlocked, but this is just a minor speed bump on the way to some major laughs and fun with friends.

Kahoot

If you fancy yourself as a quizmaster then consider checking out Kahoot. What makes this app different from most quiz games is that you can create your own quizzes. Simply set the topic and title then create questions with multiple choice answers. Once your quiz is ready the game generates a unique code which you send to your friends to invite them. You can have up to 10 players on the free version, otherwise to add more players is a tad pricey at $9.99 (R182,75) per month. Available for iOS and Android.

Houseparty

If you haven't heard of the app Houseparty have you really even been on lockdown? Houseparty mixes video chat apps like Skype and Zoom with games like Pictionary, Heads Up and various quizzes. It's loads of fun to hang out with your friends and play some games while you're at it. The base app is free on both iOS and Android and which includes a handful of quiz questions. You can purchase more for about $1 (R18,29) each.

8 Ball Pool

If you are missing playing a few games of pool at your favourite hang out then 8 Ball Pool is the closest thing available on mobile. The app allows you to play with other random players of your skill level or you can invite friends via Facebook by connecting your account. It really is a pretty accurate and fun app considering it is totally free to play for both iOS and Android.

Have you tried any of these apps? What are your thoughts? Are there any cool gaming apps for beginners that we have left off the list?
