Sony To Announce Its PS5 Line Up On Thursday

Sony To Announce Its PS5 Line Up On Thursday

It's the moment PlayStation fans have been waiting for and it's finally happening this Thursday 11 June at 1PM PT/ 9PM BST which is 10pm for us in South Africa. Sony will be revealing what it has in store for the inevitable launch of the PlayStation 5 happening later this year.

Originally the broadcast was planned for 4 June, but the decision was made by Sony's management team that given the protest that were taking part in America (and the rest of the world) it was not the right time.

Massive Sale On Paystation Games And Hardware- Up To 80% Off

"While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is the time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard."

The internet has naturally been abuzz with rumours and speculation as to what will be announced on Thursday. At the very least we are hoping for a final release date, a price and of course a list of all the games that will be available at launch.

Looking For Some Arcade Style Football- Look No Further

In a recent update on their blog, Sony mentioned that they highly recommend watching Thursday's show with headphones as they are going to be showing off some pretty cool sound design "there's some cool audio work in the show, and it might be harder to appreciate if it's pumped through your phone or laptop speakers."

So far not much is known about the new PlayStation 5 except for the technical specifications which aren't much interest for most gamers who simply want to know two things – "what games will it play?" and "how much will it cost?"

It definitely is an exciting chapter for the console wars as Microsoft will also be launching its new console, the Xbox Series X, later this year.

Not to worry if you have just bought a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One as both manufacturers have said that your games will be backwards compatible on the new consoles – meaning you will be able to enjoy your PS4 games on PS5 and similarly with Xbox One games on Xbox Series X.

Also, historically both manufacturers have continued support for their older generation consoles for a few years into the launch of their latest console so you will still see new games coming out for the Ps4 and Xbox One.

In fact, once the PS5 and Series X launch, be sure to look out for price drops and some good deals on older consoles.

Regardless be sure to check out the big reveal on Thursday 11 June at 10 pm on the link http://playstation.com/ps5

You excited for the PlayStation 5? Or are you more likely to get a new Xbox Series X?
