FIFA fans can breathe a sigh of relief as EA Games confirmed that they will be launching FIFA 21 this year, despite rumours of it being delayed due to COVID-19 related issues. The release will take place some time between August and December according to their latest financial reports so if it's anything like previous years we can expect the latest edition to land around September. With that in mind we definitely have some features and updates we are hoping get included in this year's edition.
Customisable kits
This is something players have been absolutely begging for, since we have been given the ability to customise our players, teams and almost everything else. Let us make our own customisable team kits for home and away games as well as the practice kit. We would love to go nuts with creating a really cool kit that stands out on the pitch, so holding thumbs the FIFA gods are listening to our prayers.
Improve Career Mode
I'm not sure if it was the inclusion of FUT mode or if Career Mode has simply lost its appeal, but it's in a definite need of an overhaul. If you go any FIFA forum or Subreddit you will see the hashtag #FIXCAREERMODE. The mode has been riddled with bugs and inaccuracies that ruin immersion for players so hopefully EA have heard the fans and are looking to improve the game mode that was the primary reason you played FIFA at one stage.

Bring back Story Mode
Maybe we're alone on this one, but we loved The Journey or Story Mode. Being able to follow one player's career as a rookie in a trash tier league to becoming a global superstar and making all the key career decisions along the way was excellent and one of our favourite additions to FIFA. Sadly, we lost Story Mode for Volta this year (which although a nice addition, wasn't a worthy swap and would happily swap back).
A Better Volta
While we enjoyed playing a few rounds of the new Volta mode in FIFA 20, it didn't hold our attention for very long. There wasn't really much differentiation between it and the main game to the point that it really just felt like a mini version of the main game. We'd love to see the guys at EA games look at turning Volta into something closer to FIFA Street with a more over-the-top, arcade style feel – something to make it stand out from the main game.

Introduce VAR
This might be a fun addition to the game and give it a bit of realism, or cause a few fights – include the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) that we see in many professional leagues. Naturally let us toggle this setting on or off based on our preferences, but how much fun would it be to allow a certain degree of error to be allowed in the game, but then let players challenge calls they believe are dodgy. How fun would it be to be playing with a mate and after having to endure his victory celebration after netting a goal, only to challenge it on the VAR and have it disallowed – or is that just us?
