Konami has announced a new eSports tournament, called the eFootball Pro Cup, and will get underway later this month.
The tournament will be played within eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer 2020, and offers an incredible prize pool which is over R4.8 million!
The online tournament will see 10 world famous teams compete for the prize, and will get underway on 18 July, starting with a group stage that sees clubs play four games in a round-robin format.
The most successful sides will progress to the semi-finals of the event on 31 July, with two matches played in a home and away format.
The final will be a single game, with the winning team walking away with the biggest post.
The two groups are as follows:
Group A: FC Nantes, AS Monaco, FC Schalke 04, FC Barcelona, FC Bayern Munich
Group B: Arsenal, Celtic, Juventus, Manchester United, Boavista FC
Confirming the format of the event on the official eFootball Pro website, Konami said, "The eFootball.Pro Cup will be broadcast starting on July 18th, with the first day of the Group Stage. The second day will be broadcast on July 24th, then the Knockout Stage to follow, both the Semi-Finals and the Final, will be on July 31st."
"This competition will keep the same 3v3 format and setting mirroring those of eFootball.Pro. The total prize pool for this tournament is a total of €250,000, which will be presented to teams and players based on their collective and individual performances throughout the eFootball.Pro Cup. This will include the awards for Most Valuable Player and best goal of the stages."
