The story
EA has announced plans to introduce open-world gameplay in future versions of EA Sports FC.
The feature, which was revealed during a recent summit on the future of EA games, aims to offer "virtual, open world playgrounds" for creative expression and connection among players.
This open-world concept is expected to resemble NBA 2K's 'The City,' first introduced in 2K21, and could create a communal space for players to interact across borders, much like football itself.
While a release date hasn't been confirmed, the feature is expected to arrive in the coming years.
The latest edition, EA FC 25, was released on 27 September, introducing exciting new modes like Rush—a fast-paced five-vs-five game that replaces Volta.
The game introduced new features to Career Mode, such as Live Start Points that allows players to manage teams affected by real-life variables such as injuries, suspensions, and managerial changes.
Although the new EA FC 25 hasn't been received too well by the public, with a low Google consumer rating score of 1.4, EA's President Cam Weber seems convinced that the "virtual, open world playgrounds" could be key in building a solid fandom with a young generation of gamers.
