Pirates' Plans To Change Things Upfront

Orlando Pirates may be releasing or loaning out players and then they should consider bringing in new talent, either during the January transfer window or by the end of the season.

Insiders with reliable information have indicated that Pirates are believed to be eyeing Richards Bay forward Yanela Mbuthuma and have already made inquiries about him.

The insiders added that Mbuthuma is among several players Bucs are evaluating for potential acquisition.

"The team is believed to be looking at Mbuthuma from Richards Bay with the aim of strengthening their strikeforce. For now, the outright striker who is playing most of the games is Evidence Makgopa while Tshegofatso Mabasa is mainly on the bench while Zakhele Lepasa and Boitumelo Radiopane are mostly on the sidelines. So, now they have inquired about Mbuthuma from Richards Bay and they are looking at a possible move in the January transfer window," the insider stated.

A second source stated that to create space for Mbuthuma, the Buccaneers are likely to loan out or release strikers.

"You know it's an almost known factor that Lepasa could leave the club whether on loan or permanently. And there is the issue of Radiopane as well. So the team is set to loan out one or both to make space for a new striker and they have inquired about Yanela Mbuthuma from Richards Bay who they are interested in," the second source stated.

This season, 22-year-old Mbuthuma has played a good amount of games for the KZN club. Attempts to contact his agent for comment were unsuccessful at the time of preparing this story.

Soccer Laduma contacted Pirates for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.

As Pirates navigate potential changes to their squad, the pursuit of Mbuthuma underscores their intent to strengthen their attacking options. By assessing current players and exploring new acquisitions, Bucs are working strategically towards a more dynamic and effective team line-up.
