Stellenbosch FC are believed to have reignited their pursuit of Cape Town Spurs teenage forward Luke Baartman, and insiders believe the club could be the ideal destination for one of the country’s most promising young attackers.

Following Cape Town Spurs’ relegation to the ABC Motsepe League, Baartman’s future is under the spotlight once again. The 18-year-old, who had signed a new deal just last year amid interest from Stellies and other top flight clubs, is now edging closer to free agency.
Siya sources in the Cape winelands have confirmed that Stellenbosch remain admirers of the junior international and view him as a tailor-made addition to their youth-first philosophy. While interest from Gauteng clubs is said to be growing, there is a sense that Stellies’ track record with young talent and their clear development pathway could give them the edge.
Steve Barker’s technical team has been monitoring Baartman closely for over a year, and although their previous approach in 2023 was turned down, leading them to only sign Ashley Cupido, instead of a double deal, though the opportunity to land ‘Boere’ may be within reach this time around.
