After only one season into his Kaizer Chiefs career, Tebogo Potsane is facing an uncertain future, as previously reported by the Siya crew.
Since joining the Soweto giants after parting ways with Royal AM in July, Potsane has made only seven appearances in the league and 11 in all competitions in what has been a disappointing season by his standards.
The 30-year-old did get two assists though, but an injury put paid to his chances of making further progress. While some might have thought that the winger's situation has got anything to do with issues beyond the field of play, sources have confirmed that Potsane has been a top professional and exemplary in Naturena, except for his progress being disrupted by injury.
"Tebogo Potsane has been unfortunate with an injury at Chiefs, otherwise he would have been far by now. You can see in the way he started, he was playing regularly under the previous coach (Molefi Ntseki) and had bagged two assists in the opening five games in which he featured in the league," a source said.
"He is a hardworking player who gives his all whenever on the field and is more matured than he was when he started in the professional ranks. It's just that he was unfortunate with an injury, that ruled him out for the rest of the season. It was a serious injury, and it has raised concerns about his future with the club," the source said.
Potsane signed a three-year contract when he joined Chiefs. Depending on his recovery, the Bloemfontein-born player could either be loaned out or transfer-listed according to sources, although all the planning for the Soweto giants for next season will also depend on the arrival of a new coach, as indicated by those in the know.
