Mdantsane's Program: Chiefs Star 'Won't Be Thrown To The Sharks'

Mdantsane's Program: Chiefs Star 'Won't Be Thrown To The Sharks'

Mduduzi Mdantsane, the Kaizer Chiefs midfielder who allegedly got in trouble with the club for drinking alcohol, may soon be back to weaving his magic on the field. Siya sources from Naturena have indicated there is a training program designed to guide him back into shape and focus.

Mdantsane, unlike Itumeleng Khune who has been excluded from the Chiefs squad for a different type of reported alcohol-related incident, also faced a different kind of suspension.

"He is training hard. He has been working hard since they put him on a special program. It had to happen because it is the situation he found himself in. Yes, he also went through suspension but his was different from that one of Itu (Khune). So currently he has been given a program by the physical trainer and the physical therapist. They are doing different routines with him to improve his performance and fitness. Obviously he will be available for selection in the second round when the games resume," the Siya source stated.

Mdantsane should be on a quest to rediscover his form, to prove that one misstep doesn't define a career.

And when the second half of the season kicks off, Mdantsane won't be thrown straight into the team either. No, Chiefs have a plan, according to a second Siya source.

"They won't just throw him to the deep end and expect him to swim with the sharks. They will bring him back gradually starting with friendly games during the AFCON break. They feel by the time the league restarts he could have adjusted very well to the team and he could be fit to play in an official game. They know the second round is tough and they need each and every player available," the source added.

Mdantsane, carries the hopes of the Amakhosi faithful who remember his better performances. His appearances this season, culminating in the Cape Town Spurs clash, were mere glimpses of the magic he possesses.

Chiefs, hungry for silverware, need every weapon in their arsenal. Mdantsane, if he emerges from this program stronger, fitter, and wiser, could be a very useful piece in the puzzle to finally clinch a trophy.
