Spanish Club's Interest In Jayden Adams Enhanced

Insiders close to both the player and the team have indicated that the European interest in the former Stellenbosch FC player actually dates back to his time with the Cape Winelands club.

So, the Spanish side had been monitoring Adams for some time and recently reignited their interest after his move to Sundowns.

"Yes, it's interest from Europe. Actually it's a Spanish club. No they have been monitoring him for some time now but his move to Sundowns enhanced the interest and that's why it has resurfaced now. We can't say much at the moment because he is still new at Sundowns. But the interest is there," the insider told the Siya crew.

Despite this interest, Sundowns may be reluctant to let the 23-year-old midfielder go so early after joining the club in January. A second insider discussed how the Brazilians' management have a high regard for Adams and view him as a key player for the future.

"Yes, there is believed to be interest from Europe but I don't think they can let him go this year or next year. The Sporting Director and his assistant fought very hard to have him and they won't just let him go. You know he has signed a three-year contract with a one-year option, with a further optional year on the cards. So you can see it won't be easy to just left him go even when there is interest," the second insider observed.

Adams has made an excellent start to his Sundowns career, bedding into the team in the PSL, and then scoring the winner in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final against Sekhukhune United on Friday. Prior to his move, he played matches for Stellenbosch FC in the same campaign. The Bafana Bafana midfielder, who will turn 24 on May 5, has already earned a few international caps, contributing two goals in the last two games for the national team.

While the Spanish club's interest is growing, it seems Sundowns are determined to keep hold of their rising star, whose potential continues to draw attention abroad.
