Even after having his Stellenbosch FC contract terminated before the end of the season, the Siya crew has been led to believe winger Kgaogelo Sekgota has not been short of suitors for his services.
The former Kaizer Chiefs star joined the side from the Winelands at the start of the 2023/24 season with a lot expected from him by coach Steve Barker, who is a known admirer of Sekgota since his youth days.
But the player not only arrived overweight, he also struggled off the field and eventually had his agreement cancelled prematurely in January. Soccer Laduma has previously reported that the 26-year-old was spotted training with his former club Moroka Swallows as he returned back to Johannesburg with the hopes of reviving his career.
While the Premier Soccer League door is still clearly wide open, information reaching the Siya crew is that several countries in the Scandinavia region – like Norway, Sweden and Finland – have enquired over his availability.
The winger is of course now currently a free agent after leaving Stellies while the window was still open in Mzansi, so he can join any club of his choice.
Sekgota is also no stranger to playing abroad having had spells in Lithuania and Portugal before coming back home and joining the now defunct Bidvest Wits.
It's clear that there's no doubting his talent, the question remains around his off-field behaviour given Stellies let him go due to misconduct.
