Richards Bay FC are believed to be contemplating releasing Kaizer Chiefs loanee Sabelo Radebe, according to insiders privy to information.

The Amakhosi player has not fit into their plans for the season so far.

The midfielder joined the Natal Rich Boyz at the start of the season on loan but has struggled to make an impact. Sources close to the club indicated that Richards Bay may be planning to send the player back to Chiefs.

The insiders added that the KZN club believes keeping Radebe doesn't make business sense, leading to the potential proposal of an early return to Chiefs.

Despite these insider reports, Richards Bay chairman Sfiso Jomo Biyela denied the claims, saying, "We are not going to do that. He is a good player and is playing," Biyela told Soccer Laduma.

However, a reliable source close to the club insisted that Richards Bay are considering cutting short Radebe's loan spell.

"The club is in the process of cutting off the players that they think are not really adding value to the team in terms of playing while at the same time earning a reasonable salary. You know they did that with Thabang Sibanyoni who was on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns. Now they are set to release Sabelo Radebe from Kaizer Chiefs. His loan deal is apparently going to be cut short and he will be released earlier than expected," the source close to the club stated.

A second insider noted that cost considerations are a factor in any decision.

"Yes, he could be a good player but as you can see he is not playing regularly and being a player from Kaizer Chiefs the costs of keeping him at the team are believed to be higher than other players and that is one reason why they are considering cutting short the loan to cut costs as well," the second source observed.

Since joining Richards Bay, the 24-year-old has hardly featured for the Natal Rich Boyz, which sources feel does not justify the expense.
