As per multiple reports emerging from Argentina, Sundowns are closing in on the signing of the 24-year-old from Club Atletico Lanus.
Argentine journalist César Luis Merlo reported that a deal is 90% done with a verbal agreement between the two clubs reached, with only the transfer fee to be settled.
According to information reaching the Siya crew, Esquivel has a long-term contract in place with Lanus, which runs until December 2026, and the crew understands that the club are holding out for the highest possible price for their star player.
The Siya crew has it on good authority that a figure of around $2.5 million (±R45.8 million) is being bandied about, though the clubs are yet to come to an official agreement.
It is likely that a move could be concluded by the January transfer window, with Sundowns pushing to have the player available for the latter stages of the CAF Champions League.
As reported by the Siya crew, his arrival will likely be at the cost of Erwin Saavedra, who hasn't featured since January this year.
