Mamelodi Sundowns are intensifying their efforts to secure the signature of Angolan attacker Miguel Gilberto from Petro de Luanda, as the DStv Premiership champions look to bolster their options, according to insiders privy to information.
Siya sources have indicated that negotiations are underway, with Petro de Luanda open to selling their prized asset for the right price.

The sources familiar with the situation added that the Angolan champions are keen to capitalise on Gilberto's market value before the risk of losing him as a free agent looms.
"It's not a strange thing. The scouts have been following his progress for some time now whether playing against him or at Afcon in Ivory Coast. Now, it is all up to talks between the two clubs which will put a clear path forward for the move to happen. But as for Sundowns they are really interested in the player," the Siya source told Soccer Laduma.
However, Sundowns' pursuit of Gilberto is not without its challenges. A second Siya source highlighted the potential competition from European clubs, which Petro de Luanda might prioritise.
"There has also been interest and inquiry from Belgium since the start of the season but the problem was the money issues. So, if Sundowns would better that money then they would have the advantage of signing the player. They have brought players from Europe to South Africa before and the way they are interested in Gilberto I think they will fight for his signature as well," the second source stated.
At just 23-years-old, Gilberto has one year remaining on his contract with Petro, which is set to expire in June 2025. His potential arrival at Sundowns could significantly enhance the club's offensive capabilities, adding a new dimension to their attack as they continue to compete on both the domestic and continental fronts.
Sundowns have a history of successfully integrating international talent into their squad, and Gilberto's acquisition would follow in the footsteps of previous successful signings.
Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
