Exclusive: Leaving Chiefs Has Not Worked Out For Midfielder

When he left Kaizer Chiefs in August, Kgaogelo Sekgota had hoped for more game time but so far things haven't gone according to plan for the midfielder and he is said to be concerned.

So far in the 2023/24 campaign, the 26-year-old has started only three matches from 11 appearances in the league for Stellenbosch FC.

He featured in the previous two matches in the competition and was one of the goalscorers as the Winelands outfit beat Chippa United in the Round of 16.

"The main thing for Sekgota when he left Chiefs was to go where he would get regular game time. He still had one year on his contract but was allowed to move on," said the source.

"He is a player who previously played overseas and it's a concern for him that he hasn't started more matches for his current club. But he is someone who is rated highly by the coach (Steve Barker) and is hopeful that his time to shine will come," concluded the source.

Last season, Sekgota started eight matches from 24 league appearances for Amakhosi.
