Chiefs In A Better Position To Sign Basadien?

Kaizer Chiefs appear to be in a better position to secure the services of left back Fawaaz Basadien, as they look to build a strong squad for head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

According to reports in the local media, a 30% sell-on clause in Basadien's contract, which he signed when he joined the club from Swallows FC, is set to expire in June, giving Amakhosi a chance to secure the services of the Bafana Bafana left back.

With the sell-on clause reportedly expiring, Stellies will receive the entire transfer fee for the player and may not inflate it as much as they would have while the sell-on clause was still active. The Soweto giants may feel that they have a shot at finally bringing in the player to bolster the squad.

The Siya crew has it on good authority that Chiefs want to bring Basadien on board next season, with the left back position being one of their biggest problems at the moment.

Pre-season signings Bradley Cross and Bongani Sam have not been able to command regular spots in the team and while Edmilson Dove has recently returned from a long spell on the sidelines, Amakhosi are eager to have someone else in the team and Basadien fits what they are looking for.

Indications are that Stellies could finally be ready to let go of Basadien, especially with Omeka Mdaka in the team as a long-term replacement for the experienced campaigner.
