Insider Reveals Three Major Khune Updates?

Insider Reveals Three Major Khune Updates?

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has been training on his own at home, according to insiders privy to information who reveal what has been going on behind the scenes with the player lately.

Siya sources have indicated that the Chiefs keeper may have written an apology to his teammates and the whole club for "letting them down". Amakhosi have looked up to Khune over the years, being one of South Africa's greatest football legends as he has set the standards on and off the field throughout his career.

Sources added that the club may have organised personal counselling for Khune because he could be going through a tough time at the moment after allegedly reporting to training above the alcohol limit recently.

Soccer Laduma had previously revealed that Khune has been suspended recently, pending a disciplinary hearing.

"(Itumeleng) Khune is a professional. He knows what he is supposed to do in such times. At the moment he is training on his own," said the Siya source.

"I don't want to say much about this issue now because it's with the club's disciplinary committee and as he waits the outcome of that Disciplinary Committee he cannot just sit down and mourn.

"He has to keep himself active and busy so that when he returns to the team's training he is fit and ready to go. I think that's what any professional would do. There is nothing strange with that," the source told the Siya crew.

A second Siya source also stated that the former Bafana Bafana star has written a letter to the club apologising to his teammates and everyone at the team.

"Yes, I can tell you he has written the letter and he has asked everyone at the club to forgive him. He has specifically asked his teammates to forgive him for setting a bad example and that they should not do what he did now nor in the future," said the second Siya source.

"He has shown remorse to everyone at the team and the players feel his pain and they have received his apology with open hands. They respect him as a senior player and as a leader," the source observed.

A third Siya source added that the club has since arranged counselling for their longest-serving member at Chiefs in the current squad.

"The counselling is to help him overcome the problems he had for this to happen. They know Khune would not do this if there was nothing happening to him outside the field of play. So, they have stopped him from team activities and they have arranged counselling for him to help him go through these tough times," the third Siya source stated.

Khune is not available for selection this week, as also noted by the Siya crew this morning in our story about the relationship between Chiefs players. Amakhosi take on Polokwane City away from home on Saturday.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment but no response was received while this story was prepared.
