A PSL club relocation is pending, following yet another sale of a franchise ahead of the 2022/23 season.
While yet to be officially confirmed by the league, indications are that Free State Stars' relocation is pending after the sale of the club's second tier status.
Stars have been unsuccessful in their attempts to get back to the topflight since the club's relegation in 2019.
As confirmed by close sources, a deal has been agreed to between Ea Lla Koto and Gauteng-based businessman Bucks Mthombeni for the purchase of the franchise and relocation of the club from the Free State to Gauteng and renamed Casric Stars, subject to the PSL's approval.
Mthombeni is the owner of ABC Motsepe League outfit Casric FC.
The Siya crew has it on good authority that preparations are ongoing for the new owner and his management in preparing the side for the new season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Sifiso 'Shakes' Kabini, who resigned from his role as Platinum City Rovers team manager at the end of last season, is among the personnel recruited under the club's new management.
Contacted for comment, Kabini confirmed joining Casric FC, although was reluctant to share more information regarding the latest developments.
"Yes, I have joined the club," he said.
A source close to the club confirmed, "Free State Stars has been sold to Casric FC and the plan is to rename the new club in the Motsepe Foundation Championship to Casric Stars. Shakes (Kabini) has joined the club as their team manager. For him, it is like going back home because he previously worked for the club in the ABC Motsepe League before he went to join Platinum City Rovers."
Should the relocation be successful, the Free State would then be left without a team in the PSL, following last year's sale of Bloemfontein Celtic and the relocation to KwaZulu-Natal under the ownership of Shauwn Mkhize's Royal AM.
Another club set for relocation for the new season is Cape Town All Stars, who will be based in Gauteng, following the side's unsuccessful attempt at promotion to the topflight after the promotion/ relegation play-offs in June.
