The current Absa Premiership season hiatus could be of big advantage to former Bafana Bafana striker Tokelo Rantie, who is working on making a comeback to topflight football, following some disappointments in his career in recent months.
Rantie has spent the past weeks training with Bloemfontein Celtic, where he has already impressed coach Lehlohonolo Seema and his technical team with his abilities and work-rate, according to sources.
While it had been thought that the ex-Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns forward was being prepared for next season by the Mangaung club, as the technical team wanted to give him some time to work on regaining his fitness, the break could help the 29-year-old to be ready for his return before the end of the season.
"Tokelo Rantie is doing well at Bloemfontein Celtic. He is working hard in training, and has also been doing extra training at the Sports Science. The club wants to sign him, and it looks like that could be done before the end of the season," said the source.
Celtic, who have advanced to the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup, are expected to make a decision on Rantie any time from now.
