Chiefs May Be Priced Out Of Move For Sundowns Target

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi recently declared that there are other areas of the squad that need strengthening, though he didn't specify which ones, and now the Siya crew has been updated on the midfield.

The arrival of his assistant Cedric Kaze may usher in unique changes, as the team is believed to have turned their interest to a Tanzanian midfielder who is also on Mamelodi Sundowns' radar. Though, there are question marks on the affordability of the target.

Siya sources have indicated that interest in midfielder Feisal Salum has been proposed by Kaze.

The sources added that both coach Nabi and Kaze know the midfielder and believe he can add value to the Amakhosi team if signed.

"There could be more changes in the playing staff at Chiefs in January. You know the Tanzanian midfielder that Mamelodi Sundowns have been following, Feisal Salum? Kaizer are now after him. Actually the assistant coach Cedric Kaze is believed to have proposed him to the club as both him and Nabi know him from Yanga. He played under them before joining Azam and he feels there is a role he can play at the club hence his suggestion to the team. It's just that at Chiefs for now, when they are ready they will approach Azam. But there is that talk at the club now about Feisal Salum," the Siya source stated.

A second Siya source pointed out that the only stumbling block would be the asking price by Azam, which Sundowns are still reportedly negotiating.

"He is rated and valued highly by Azam and that has been the delay with Sundowns. The money they want is too much. And if Chiefs are to get him, Fiston Mayele and Oswin Appollis they will have to go beyond their budget. Do they have that money around R30m just for him? Even if they say R20m. Do they have it? So, although they are interested in him, the issue will be affordability at the end of the day," the second Siya source stated.

The 26-year-old joined Azam FC last season from Yanga SC and also contributes significantly to the goalscoring department from midfield.

Chiefs' interest in Salum adds another layer of intrigue to their transfer plans. Whether they can secure his signature amidst competition from Sundowns and budget constraints remains to be seen. Fans will be eagerly watching to see how this potential transfer unfolds.
