As reported by the Siya crew, interest is being shown from Gauteng and Europe in Stanley Nwabali, following his inspiring performances in the recently held 2023 African Cup of Nations, where he inspired Nigeria to a second place finish.
Since arriving at Chippa United in 2022, the burly goal minder has been one of the pillars of strength for the side, and it comes as no surprise that they are keen on extending his deal to keep him as part of the squad and stave off the interest pouring in for his services.
The 27-year-old has one year left on his deal with the club, but Siya sources have indicated that the Chilli Boys have moved fast to begin talks with the player in fear of losing him to interested clubs on a lower transfer fee than the club's evaluation of the star.
The Siya crew spoke to a source close to proceedings, who confirmed that there are plans to extend Nwabali's stay in Gqeberha.
"It is true that Chippa are negotiating with the player's camp regarding the extension of his contract. The player's contract has one year left (on it) and the club is keen on extending his deal, and the two parties are currently in negotiations regarding that," the source said.
