Ex Chiefs Star Among The 18 Released By Sekhukhune

True to his word, Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has trimmed his side down to his preferred size as 18 players received the chop from Babina Noko, who revealed their official squad for the 2023/24 season.

Towards the end of the 2022/23 campaign, Truter was adamant that his squad was inflated and that he needed to cut down on the 'quantity' while holding onto the 'quality'.

Given that the club reached the Nedbank Cup final in just their second topflight season, it was unclear at the time who would be making way.

Now, it appears that not even some of the club's most consistent performers have survived the chop as the likes of Rodrick Kabwe, who made 19 appearances last season was amongst those who were pointed towards the exit door at the club.

Further exits include former Kaizer Chiefs defender Philani Zulu who spent just one season with the club.

As reported by the Siya crew, last season's marquee signing Victor Letsoalo was included in a swap deal with Rally Bwalya of AmaZulu.

Sekhukhune will get their season underway against defending DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday.
