Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba has discussed his view on the 'clubs over national team' debate and says the issue can become a can of worms.

Mashaba says he understands that there is a risk for players getting injured on national team duty and, calls upon SAFA to help the players in case they would suffer a career-ending injury.
"You might have a player who doesn't want to jeopardise his chances of playing abroad because that's where his bread is buttered," he told Soccer Laduma.
"It opens another can of worms. So, someone can say to a player, "No, don't go there for Bafana because if you break your leg then nobody will take care of you.
"Where do I fit in there as a coach?
"I know some of them will say, "If I break a leg for Bafana, I'm finished." This is not something I can manage.
"It needs to be managed by the association. They are the people who are paying other people. They are the people who need to match each other (in terms of paying players a competitive salary while on international duty).
"I'm also on a salary scale. How do I go and decide other people's salaries? Look, I think these players deserve what they earn where they play, you know."
