Tau participated in his third addition of the FIFA Club World Cup with Al Ahly, where they were knocked out by Brazil's Fluminense on Monday evening.
The 29-year-old was also recently crowned the CAF Inter-club Men's Player of The Year.
Mosimane, who enjoyed two separate stints with Tau at Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly recently credited the player for his exploits in Egypt, despite initial thoughts that the move was a step backwards, having signed from Brighton Hove Albion.
"I never took Percy Tau anywhere – Percy Tau took himself. That is a top player," Mosimane was quoted telling SuperSport's Football Africa.
"That is a man who knows how to play, how to train, how to win. This is a man who is a total, holistic football player.
"I will put my money anyhow, anywhere against anybody – Percy is a top player. He conquered Africa. Everybody killed me [saying], 'how can you take the boy from Europe and bring him to Africa?' Percy Tau was not even on the bench [at Brighton]," he continued.
