The 29-year-old has enjoyed enormous success since joining Egyptian giants Al Ahly, having collected six trophies so far, including a CAF Champions League title.
Tau's return to the African continent came after he spent three years on Brighton Hove Albion's books in England, during which he went out on loan to Belgium at three different clubs – Union SG, Club Brugge and Anderlecht.
The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns man eventually got a chance at Brighton in the 2020/21 campaign, but made just six appearances before being sold to Al Ahly, who were then coached by Pitso Mosimane.
Speaking recently about his decision to leave England, Tau spoke about the importance of getting regular game time.
"I just wanted to play football," he told Mozzart Sport.
"I didn't want to sit on the bench and wait for an opportunity regardless of where I was playing. All I wanted was to play football and be happy doing it again."
Tau also talked about his future in Egypt, saying he is determined to continue adding to his trophy collection at the Red Devils.
"I have a contract with Al Ahly until June 2025," he added.
"We won five trophies last year and we'll try to do it again this year. I'm happy to be competing for major trophies, Al Ahly is a big club that always tries to win.
"It doesn't matter what you won the previous season, in the new season you have to do it all again."
