French League 1 outfit Montpellier have taken a decision on the future of Bafana Bafana attacker Keagan Dolly.
As reported by the Siya crew earlier this month, Dolly, 28, would see his future at the French giants come under the spotlight with less than a month to run on his contract in the South of France.
Now, the latest news reaching the crew's desk is that Dolly will be parting ways with Les Pallaide when his contract ends on June 30, with no knew deal being discussed for the Westbury-born star.
This was confirmed by the club's president Laurent Nicollin, who confirmed in a radio interview on France Bleu Hérault last week that both the club and Dolly had agreed to part ways bringing an end to a challenging four-year stay in France.
Dolly joined Montpellier to much fanfare in 2017 in a deal believed to be worth €1.7m (±R28m), following a successful season with Mamelodi Sundowns, in which he won the CAF Champions League.
Unfortunately, things didn't work out as planned for the attacker in France with injuries, as well as having three different coaches in four seasons, limiting his game time in Europe. Dolly made 64 appearances in total for Montpellier, scoring just one goal in that time.
Contacted for comment, Dolly's long-time manager, Paul Mitchell of Siyavuma Sports Group confirmed that the attacker will be moving onto the next chapter of his career.
"It was the end of straight four-year contract and Keagan had made the decision at the beginning of the year that he wasn't going to stay. The club did not have an added option in the deal, so he is moving on. Keagan has enjoyed his stay at Montpellier even with the challenges and his injuries. Overall it was a great experience, and he will look at it as a great platform for his first ever spell in Europe. He would like to thank the club and wishes them well in the future," told the crew.
Dolly, who has shown he is still one of the finest players around, will become a free agent after June 30, opening the door for a number of possibilities for the player ahead of the new season.
As reported by the crew, the player is keen to stay in Europe where he has made a life for himself and welcomed his first-born child, however, indications are that Al Ahly have also been monitoring Dolly's situation.
If a lucrative offer to return home from any of the Big Three outfits - including his former side Mamelodi Sundowns, does materialise, Dolly might also be swayed in making a return to the Premier Soccer League.
