During his breakthrough years in South African football, the Rustenburg-born talent was widely known as a winger. However, it has now been six years since his last appearance in the PSL, and the 27-year-old has since reinvented himself as one of the top wing-backs in the Danish Superliga.
Links has made a bright start to the season, registering two goals and two assists. This comes shortly after signing a new contract at Ceres Park. Should he see out the full length of that deal, it would keep him at Aarhus GF until 2026.
Despite this long-term commitment, Links admitted he has already considered the possibility of ending his career back home.
“Yeah, that’s one thing that I’ve thought about,” the versatile wing player told Soccer Laduma.
“Let me say after ten years in Denmark and then I’m like, ‘I want to retire in South Africa,’ then I think it’s a possibility to be honest because I’ve spoken to my girlfriend about it because she’s been to Cape Town, she’s been to Rustenburg so she loves Cape Town.”
“So now she’s seen the country because you know the media only show the not so good parts of the country, not the good side. She was actually surprised when we got to South Africa and she was like, ‘Is this the Africa they’ve been showing us?’”
“I’ve taken her to Cape Town City to show her around as well and she’s in love with the city.”
Asked whether Cape Town City would be the only PSL club he would consider joining should the opportunity arise, Links was clear in his response.
“Yeah, I think so, 100 percent,” he added.
“John (Comitis) knows, I talk to him. They’ve done so much for me Cape Town City so yeah, definitely.”
