Reports coming out of Egypt have suggested that Al Ahly are desperate to get rid of Percy Tau, however, the stumbling block for his exit has seemingly been revealed.
The 28-year-old has been in the centre of a transfer whirlwind.
First, reports suggested that Tau had parted ways with the Red Eagles after just one season with the club. Thereafter, reports surfaced that he was wanted by French Ligue 2 club Le Havre, however, a deal could not be concluded before the European transfer window slammed shut.
Now, according to Egyptian website KingFut, Al Ahly are desperate to offload Tau, but the attacker's long-term back injury is proving to be a hindrance to the Bafana Bafana international leaving the club.
Indications are that Al Ahly are trying to recoup some of the ±R30 million fee they forked out to land him from Brighton and Hove Albion, despite the player still having two years left to run on his current contract.
With Tau understood to be nursing a long-term injury, it remains to be seen whether he manages to secure an exit from the club in the near future.
