English championship side, Brentford FC have made an important decision on the future of Bafana Bafana international, Kamohelo Mokotjo.
It was reported earlier this month that Brentford were set to assess Mokotjo's progress after he sustained an injury this year and thereafter make a decision about his future at the club.
The 29-year-old midfielder's contract with The Bees was set to come to an end on June 30 and with the 2019/20 season extending beyond that date, a short-term deal needed to be agreed upon in order for him to complete the season with Brentford.
The club has since confirmed that the Bafana international has signed a short-term contract ahead of the resumption of the English championship this weekend.
"Brentford pair Nikos Karelis and Kamohelo Mokotjo have signed extensions to their current contracts. The duo had deals that expired on 30 June but have signed short-term extensions. They will now stay with The Bees until the day after Brentford's final game of the 2019/20 season, as per EFL protocol implemented due to the three-month cessation of fixtures because of the Covid-19 pandemic," the club confirmed on their official website.
"We are very pleased to extend Kamohelo's contract. He has worked very hard to come back from his injury and will be ready and fit for selection against Fulham. We need The General's experience, coolness and passing ability as we head into the last part of the season. He is so reliable and adds so much to the group, both in training and matches. You can see when he steps onto the pitch how it raises the levels of those around him," their head coach, Thomas Frank added.
