Luke Le Roux's move to Dutch Eredivisie side Volendam ended in tears after they were officially relegated from the topflight, just one year after he joined them.
The midfielder captained his side in the second half of the season; however, there wasn't much he could do in his 12 appearances to prevent the side from going down.
When he joined in August last year, Le Roux penned a three-year deal, which is set to expire in June 2026 - but his contract does include an option to extend for a further year.
Though he still has two years left on his contract with Volendam, the side's relegation could see Le Roux seek greener pastures as he continues to develop his game abroad.
Having managed to get a foot into the Bafana Bafana setup, a move could be beneficial for the former SuperSport United midfielder.
Le Roux was previously on the books of Swedish outfit Varberg BoIs.
