The national under-23 team has been hit with three positive COVID-19 cases and the individuals are currently in the Tokyo 2020 isolation facility.
Players Thabiso Monyane and Kamohelo Mahlatsi, as well as analyst Mario Masha, have tested positive in the latest round of testing.
The rest of the team, however, has been cleared to train ahead of their opening match against Japan on July 22.
According to Team South Africa, the rest of team has already tested negative twice and is following closely all the recommendations of the local health authorities.
Kaizer Chiefs players Reeve Frosler and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, meanwhile, will join up with the under-23 team after featuring in the CAF Champions League final against Egyptian giants Al Ahly over the weekend. Amakhosi were beaten 3-0 by Pitso Mosimane's Ahly side.
The players flew out to Tokyo on Sunday, July 18.
"It's a good feeling for me and another achievement in my career. Another opportunity to showcase my talent at the highest stage. I am very excited about that. Obviously, there was a lot of lessons learnt in the game. Disappoined with the result, but we move and we take this experience into the Olympics and hopefully we can do well there," Frosler told the Amakhosi media department.
