The Kwa-Zulu Natal-team did not accept their transfer ban handed down by FIFA over the case regarding striker Samir Nurkovic. As part of FIFA's ruling, the club were ordered to pay the Serbian striker a payout of around R12m, and failure to do so would result in a transfer ban.

The Shauwn Mkhize-led side in turn, took the matter to CAS, who according to a statement released by the club, have suspended the ban and have informed all parties involved of their decision.

"Royal AM FC, is pleased to announce that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has officially notified the club, Samir Nurkovic, and FIFA about the initiation of arbitration appeal proceedings.

These proceedings have been lodged by Royal AM FC against the decisions rendered by FIFA. Royal AM FC confirms that the appeal was simultaneously submitted to CAS along with an application for urgent provisional, preliminary, and conservatory relief against the transfer ban imposed on the club.

In a significant development, CAS has informed all parties involved, through a correspondence received and notified on Tuesday, 11th July 2023, that the transfer ban has been automatically uplifted and suspended immediately upon CAS's admission of Royal AM FC's appeal against the decisions rendered by FIFA.

Adhering to established protocol, Royal AM FC has forwarded the correspondence received from CAS to the National Soccer League (NSL) for verification and implementation. NSL, as the governing body, will now undertake the necessary steps to ensure that the suspension of the transfer ban is fully recognized and enforced accordingly.

Royal AM FC is delighted by the current turn of events and eagerly awaits the outcome of the arbitration appeal proceedings. The club remains committed to maintaining transparency and abiding by the rules and regulations set forth by FIFA and other governing bodies," the statement said.

Royal AM will play their first match of the 2023/24 season against AmaZulu at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday 5 August.
