Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium

Thwihli Thwahla got to the second round after overcoming Mbabane Highlanders 2-0 on aggregate, which was their debut in the competition after finishing third last season.

The hosts were also involved with domestic action this week, after suffering a 3-1 loss to SuperSport United as Abram Nteo took charge of the side.

The Zambian outfit did manage to carve out a couple openings early in the game, with Chanda Mukuka forcing Royal AM shot-stopper Xolani Ngcobo into a good save on 11 minutes.

Alfred Leku went close to bagging the opening shortly before the break after getting on the end of Kevlin Kampamba's cross, but his header sailed wide of the goal.

Royal AM, meanwhile, were unable to trouble United shot-stopper Ian Otieno as the sides went into the halftime break all square.

Unfortunately for the home side that would go on to be the same case in the second stanza as they struggled to find a way past Otieno and his United defence.

The visitors did introduce for Orlando Pirates attacker Austin Muwowo in the latter stages of the second half, but they were also unable to get the breakthrough in Durban.

The two sides will now turn their attention to the second leg in Zambia next Saturday, with the tie still evenly poised.
